sometimes ya win.

sean and brennan drove to idaho last night and home this afternoon to go to the byu/boise state game.
brennan walked in the door holding his sign from the game and told me,
"mom, the broncos won. sometimes ya lose, sometimes ya win."
i love him.
it was so quiet with the big boys gone.
i got to sleep in with max and chase,
exercise in the mornings,
and have the tv all to myself at night.
it was a lovely little break.
during chase's morning bath i gave him his first hair cut.
just a little off the top to even things out.
his comb over was getting out of control.
now he's all spruced up for his first airplane ride.
he and i are jet setting home to california tonight for some smooching and spoiling from the grandparents, as well as paige's wedding.
we can't wait!!!

i'm blue for you.

max insisted on wearing her pink flair.
she had me pin it in just the right spot.
brennan dragged his white byu hat along the floor in costco.
it is now partially black on the back.
i watched two carloads of ute fans get pulled over for hanging out of their sunroofs and off of the truck beds.
don't they know red gets pulled over more often???
;)
let's go COUGS!
this is the only day of the year where red isn't my favorite color.
BEST THOSE UTES!!!
{so sean will sleep a happier man. things are getting dicey up in here!}

rivalry week & september

"it's rivalry week. we sleep in our gear."
-sean gibson
{the big byu/utah game is tomorrow. GO COUGS!!!}
{our flag is already flying}
....
walking down the stairs yesterday morning brennan says to sean,
"mom's been freakin' me out lately."
what the?!?
funny kid.
i wish it could be september all summer long.
the days are warm.
some even hot enough for sunscreen.
but usually i'm just too lazy to put it on all of us by now.
the nights cool by 6 o'clock.
i love leaving my windows open in the afternoon while i make dinner.
to let the breeze fill my home.
with the smell of trees and roses.
the flies and bees buzz around my kitchen.
they annoy me.
the cool air at night lets me cover myself in every ounce of my down comforter.
it makes me not want to get out of bed in the mornings:)
we watch the birds eat the sunflower seeds out back.
our man made bird feeder.
so proud:)
i pick the tomatoes less and less.
the sunflowers are so big,
i am sure the birds think they are sitting on the branches of a tree.
we love to watch them pick out the seeds from our dinner table with the back door open.
the big and fat blue feathered ones are my favorite.
their long elegant tales are beautiful.
the days are shorter.
the mornings are longer.
or darker at first.
whichever.
i'm starting to cook soups, chilis, and bake things in my oven more.
i have no desire to water our lawn or turn on our air conditioner anymore.
i can hear the kids chattering and running to the bus stop in the mornings.
i never knew i had a love obsession with september.
until now:)

go cougs

just know that saturday afternoon was ALMOST not pretty at the gibson home.
thank goodness the cougs pulled through in the 4th quarter.
as usual.
and beat ole miss.
14-13.
like i said,
ALMOST not pretty.
but turned out pretty.
really pretty.
just not as pretty as max;)
she drives a tough competition though.

and so it begins...

game day.
go cougs.
boys going to rah-rah.
and so it begins...
i told sean i was so excited to do laundry, mop, sweep, clean the bathroom, and grocery shop.
he couldn't understand why that is a saturday night of my dreams now.
it's the being at home without toddler interruption part that has me most excited.
oddly excited.
oh, how things change.
...
counter offer out.
wait, wait, wait...

another one bites the dust

i wake up.
i open my front door.
i see:

it's like i should leave a sign.

"come on in! we'll even leave the key in the door for you!"

umphf.

...

also...

over the weekend,

another one bites the dust.

dang it UNGA!

i wore royal blue to church today.

there was also a tri-tip steak sandwich involved in the evening.
extra sauce.
notes to follow.
things i learned at this year's game:
i still get car sick in traffic.
tri-tip sandwiches are better with extra sauce.
glad i learned this the easy way.
by asking.
trend setter, wait and see.
very satisfying.
hot chocolate is better enjoyed when it doesn't burn your tongue.
still haven't learned this lesson completely.
my tongue is not uncomfortably burned, just slightly "cinged."
not enough to affect drinks and food today.
i'll consider that an accomplishment.
quarter backs can say really dumb things in post game interviews.
husbands are happier when their team wins.
i knew this already.
having family and friends to watch your child is priceless.
i should be a MasterCard commercial.
eating pizza at 9:30pm tastes better than at 6pm.
barges root beer is better from the bottle than the fountain.
this is not true for most sodas.
cold weather puts me in a good mood.
i knew this already.
so did you.
the scout master is handsome.
i knew this already too.
as noted previously, the cheerleaders made me want to grow my hair out.
i'm undecided this afternoon.
it's better not to talk about rivalry games at church.
everyone should know this already,
yet every year someone breaks the unspoken rule.
in the foyer.
and the halls.
trust me, it wasn't me.
just saying,
someone did.
i heard them.
walking around cougar stadium for a tri-tip sandwich and multiple bathroom breaks makes me one tired pregnant woman the next day.
i love college football.
especially when my team wins.
jumping up and down, while pregnant, with a full bladder is not recommended.
says me.
the end.

my kind.

my kind of weather:-)
my kind of men.
missing?
whipped cream for my hot chocolate.
the last can lasted two weeks.
maybe i should be buying the double pack at costco...
...
budget confessions:
i caved and went to lunch with girlfriends yesterday.
$8 on pizza for the pork loin and me.
there went my money for tammy's scentsy party.
sigh.
remind me next time that the conversation with the ladies is worth it, but the $8 on pizza is not.

HAIR CHOP & COUGAR TOWN {a sad place last night}

big thanks to...
the ruff's for taking the pork loin for the night.
hot old man & mama nacho for the tickets and tail gating experience.
taco bell for our post-game snack.
...
note:
the pork loin woke up this morning grabbing at his hair, looking confused.
we laughed.
i miss the blondie.
and his flowing locks.
but the mullet had to go.
