a weenie roast

my mother in law called us friday afternoon
and said she'd love to have us for a weenie roast
and s'mores that night.

and maybe the kids would like to ride the go cart while they were there.

we said yes before she finished saying weenie.

i learned that when a hot dog is done it makes a smile.

at least if you're a glass half FULL kind of gal.

which i am.

AND

that i like my s'mores open faced.

why did i never try this before???

the nights are perfectly warm right now.

and the watermelon in my garden is almost ready for the picking.

at his 4 month check this week it was decided that chase is lacking calories.

all in favor of having this problem say "EYE"!!!

august calendars {sunflowers}

i never knew why calendars always had pictures sunflowers on the month of august.

i didn't really think about it.

i guess i've always thought the calendar makers just thought sunflowers were pretty and put them there for no particular reason at all.

turns out it's because sunflowers bloom in august.

at least,

that's what i'm thinking now.

my mother in law and i went halloween costume shopping last weekend.

she is quite the seamstress,

so sean and i have enlisted her help for our costumes this year.

i don't think sean will ever let me live down the year i made him be a fire hydrant.

less offensive than the gerber ingredients box and just as easy to make.

chase only gagged a few times at the end b/c it got lumpy.

harvest days '12

saturday was the harvest day's parade.

it is our favorite.

b/c grandma & grandpa casper's house is on the route.

and it starts at 10am.

{early parades just don't work for us.}

so we roll out of bed.

drive in from the back.

and enjoy the festivities.

our favorite part is when they pass out otter pops, 

and the motor police do synchronized motorcycle driving tricks:)

andrea's float was in this parade too.

it won another award.

the harvest spirit award.

i can't believe how much max has grown.
