i thinned out
my corn stalks today.
they have been popping all week
in rows of two,
two by two.
{i really need at least 3 rows, i've been told}
the nights are perfectly warm.
the days are getting uncomfortably hot.
my children have sticky Popsicle faces most of the day,
with drizzles of blue and red syrup down the fronts of their shirts.
or chests.
usually their chests.
as clothing is just too much of a burden to them now.
i love their little naked, sunscreen smelling selves.
with greasy hair, filthy feet, and sweat dripping foreheads.
the garage smells like freshly cut warm grass.
but in a stinky kind of way.
it reminds me of my grandparent's garage in iowa.
the smell of my garage now.
and i wish i had some mello yellow in the fridge.
or at least some dr. pepper.
but mostly just mello yellow.
if you build it,
dreams will come.
and come they may:)

you brought summer to life with this post I remember running barefoot and being sweaty and having fun
Ahhhh. Those summer days are magic.
=)
Your children are having such magic days because their mother is amazing. Dreams come indeed! I think your home is where dreams are hatched and grow up.
