"gam-pa"

grandpa is here with gifts from grandma.
we are so happy:)
after skyping with grandma sandie for the gift opening,
the making of airplanes, fairies, rocket ships, and birds began.
to hang from the ceilings in their rooms.
there won't be a wet or dirty diaper found in our house for the next 72 hours.
glory be!!!

"i'm dreaming of a..."

this is about how cold our house felt this morning.
they tell me we are on the no heat list with 12 other houses.
working around the clock to get our new furnace installed as soon as possible.
which could be today or tomorrow,
but for sure tuesday.
this morning brennan came into bed with us,
while sean went downstairs to turn on all of the space heaters and the oven.
an hour later we peeled ourselves out of bed,
and i made pancakes with the oven blowing warm air into my face.
dream come true!!!
i think we're going to have to start running those space heaters through the night.
b/c let me tell you,
you can feel a difference between waking up to 60* versus 62*,
and this morning is was NOT the latter.
"i'm dreaming of a neeeeeeeewwwwww furnace!!!"
wait,
is that not how the song goes?

"snowie" becomes "snow doggy"

most of the trees still have their leaves on them.
so while we slept last night
{or were up with all three kids on separate occasions},
everything was covered in a blanket of white,
with bursts of yellow, red, and green on the tree tops.
breathtakingly beautiful.
............
while chase took his morning nap,
the big gib's and i put on our boots, coats, gloves, and hats to go outside into the fresh snow.
the cold air on my sleepy face after a fresh snow is heaven.
my favorite way to wake up:)
so we wrestled on everyone's gear,
and i told them i was only putting on gloves once,
which of course i gave in and did more than i can count.
brennan has been wanting to build a snowman since OH....JULY.
so we they began.
the snow was heavy and sticky.
perfect for snowman making.
we got him all put together,
carrot nose, stick arms, rock eyes and all,
and called it complete.
i pulled them around "snowie" on the sled until all of the snow was slushed out into the grass.
then brennan needed to pee,
so we went inside.
where he took off all of his clothes,
so max had to too.
then we had to put it all back on again,
and came out to find that "snowie" had melted off his top two levels.
at which point "snowie" became "snow doggy."
he needed ears, eyes, and a nose.
brennan said he was hungry for leaves and thirsty for snow,
so the two of them fed and watered
"snow doggy."
i was in love with all of it.
and so were they.
happy happy first snowy day:)
check out how my camera actually caught the snowflake falling onto brennan's tongue.
AMAZING.
{i love my neighbor's bright yellow tree leaves.}
snow doggie.
so charming:)
SO PROUD!!!
........................................
p.s.
chase spent the better part of his day watching the snow fall
through our back windows in his exersaucer.
he was memorized.

goodbye big bertha

it read 62.5 degrees on my thermostat this morning.
oh the memories of living in a basement apartment!
we have all of our space heaters out and running.
along with our oven.
one more week,
and we will have a fancy brand new furnace running in our basement.
compliments of superior water and air.
i can hardly wait to turn that beautiful baby on.
last night sean came home from work early, and we took down the garden.
he found another watermelon, another pumpkin, some great dried out sunflower seeds that the birds didn't get to (but the rain did b/c i didn't have time to pick them out--hopefully they'll be ready next week),
and a field mouse.
he thoroughly made me jump when i went to pick up one of my big bertha sunflower stems and he shouted, "ahhh!!!" and lunged at me.
classic sean.
good thing i didn't have to go pee.
phew.
so today i'm relishing in all of our warm weather clothing that i've been oh so looking forward to wearing.
and picking up my old habits of standing in front of a space heater, wrapped in a blanket.
let me tell you,
it's the warmest feeling on the planet.
as the air comes up and traps itself inside of the blanket.
especially when you lay down on a couch after you've been warming yourself for 5 minutes.
amazing.
STILL,
can't wait to turn on our furnace next week.
t-minus 7 days.

and don't you worry,
a little cold air would never deter brennan from his underwear only wearing state.
he takes the BRRRRRR to a whole new level!!!
