2 buckets of apples=applesauce

while the men went to priesthood meeting last night,
we brought our potato masher and spaghetti pot to my cousin's house.
two buckets of homegrown apples called for applesauce making.
and that is what we did.
the kids watched movies in the basement with their cousins,
and we talked in the kitchen about life.
if you have never done it,
it's easy.
peel.
chop.
heat on stove 30 min.
mash until it's how you like it.
add sugar or candies (we like red hots).
and can it.
ta-da!
the secret to making extra yummy apple sauce is to use a variety of sweet apples.
we only used one b/c obviously we had TONS to use.
julie's trees abundantly produce:)
i also learned last night that you don't always have to cook your canning jars to get them to seal.
if what you have made is already hot,
you can just fill up your jars,
put the lids on,
and let the heat do the job.
it takes the jar longer to seal, as in several hours, but it worked.
her-ray:)

 here's to new traditions:)
