must be memorial day.
when the rotatiller broke we ended up at the pool.
it's a rough life,
but somebody's gotta do it.
4 hours later i delivered the bigs home to sean who had fixed the rotatiller,
bathed a baby who i'm told spent the afternoon enjoying his life in the dirt,
a vaccuumed out car,
and a lawn with every piece edged.
or my in laws did that part.
bless them.
i've never been so happy to see churned up dirt in my life!
we bathed the kids,
tucked them into bed,
and i planted all of my plants and seeds until the sun went down at ten,
and i couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
even after showers our feet still had dirt on them.
i can almost see the corn growing on the fence and the sunflowers towering high into the sky.
must be memorial day:)
...
to jackie and shawn p. whose service i honor.
and to all who serve, we THANK YOU!
happy memorial day!

chase and the giant peach {giant alberta to be exact}
directions:
1. cut hole double the diameter on each side
{this took all of our mental power, trust me.}
with a depth even with the top of the tree's potted dirt.
{say that sentence 3x fast.}
{i even had to google it to make sure i wasn't mixing up my diameter and radius memories.
and then call the nursery again to make sure we had it right.
i blame my three kids entirely. don't judge. i'm a product of my environment, HAHAHA!},
2. loosen roots out of bucket,
soak roots and dirt around roots with root stimulate.
3. mix two shovels of regular dirt with one shovel of compost fancy dirt.
4. DON'T COVER GRAPH at base of tree.
{"don't forget this," said trevor at wasatch shadows nursery.}
5. water by drip for 2-3 hours,
more root stimulate around base of newly planted tree.
6. spray for peach bugs {can't remember their names}
now,
in 2 weeks,
and again in 2 more weeks again.
{in a brand new spraying thing b/c it needs it's own spraying thing.}
........
this paper is like gold to me.
i scribbled it down at the checkout register with three sticky kids seated in shopping carts and at my feet.
i bought them each a sucker to suck on
while i had trevor the tree specialist {future physical therapist}
repeat all directions for care of our newly purchased peach tree.
they are oh so very patient over at wasatch shadows nursery.
go there.
you will love them.
chase was supervising.
so if it's a crooked peach tree,
we know who to blame.
i need a day to recover from the last four days.
and an entire bottle of ibuprofen.
it feels so good to work in the dirt.
and then take a long hot shower.
i finally had to scrub my feet with my foot stone to get them clean.
i'm ready for a tree full of peaches right now:)
patience is a virtue?
i've always hated that saying.
millions of peaches,
peaches for me!!!
{in 3-5 years}
SUMMER BEGIN!
:):):)
{i officially give you my permission}
.................................
P.S.
max has a sliver the size of texas in the pad of her ring finger.

yep, i know it {horse manure}
Cade: "Hey mom, do you know who's in love?"
Cade's Mom: "Yes, me and dad."
Cade: "YESSSSSSS! Who else?"
Cade's Mom: "Britt and Cameron."
Cade: "I knew it! Emily and Sean are in love too. I know it!"
.....
last night sean shoveled horse manure for 5 hours.
and i spread it out with the kid's little red mini snow shovels.
the stable man loaded sean's dad's truck in 5 minutes with his tractor.
twice.
once in the morning, and once after dinner.
EXCITING:)
who knew i would ever be so excited about horse manure?
with the kids in bed and fast asleep after dinner,
we de-mulched the second bed of manure in the backyard
for the last two hours of the sun turning to dark.
under what looked like a full moon.
we talked about our day.
funny things the kids did and said,
plans for sean's tuna fish lunch on friday,
and about how smelly manure is when the wind sweeps right in front of your nose
when you're laying it out in your garden beds.
the cold air felt so good on my sunburned neck.
{i wore sunscreen all day, and still my neck feels like it's on fire.}
then we talked about where we were planting what,
and sean found a carrot that never got pulled last fall,
to which i declared how much i despise growing carrots,
and how this year i was growing the corn there,
and beans instead of carrots somewhere else.
we finally came inside at 9:51pm.
the full moon teasing us with our work we could barely see.
and i could hardly wait to wake up this morning to it all.
i now have all flower and garden beds mulched and ready for summer.
our yard looks like a million bucks:)
ESPECIALLY
my garden beds!
oh the garden beds!
that will be rota-tilled and planted this memorial day weekend.
i am SO excited!!!
it's planting time.
and
do you know why?
b/c he LOVES me.
sean.
not the stable man.
sean.
yep:)
i know it!
happy memorialing to you and yours.

"memorial-ing"
chocolate chip waffles
hot chocolate
weeding
top soil laying
garden planting
and 2 hours and 15 minutes of online traffic school for me.
that's what i get for forgetting about it until the last day.
which happened to be memorial day.
yep,
awesome.
so i'm hoping that when i fax my completion papers over tonight
they will be time stamped for today.
the due date the court gave me back in the middle of march.
i'll let you know if a warrant goes out for my arrest.
b/c that's what sean says happens to people who don't finish
their traffic school on time.
have mercy,
i'm such a procrastinator.
with the garden too.
having a baby 8 weeks ago is my excuse for both.
oh,
and a bird flew in our house this afternoon.
twice.
and pooped down my air vent.
not kidding.
i feel like our entire house is full of bird germs now.
we ate outside,
and i've basically all but clorox-ed the kitchen table.
gross.
.............................................
happy memorial-ing.
