First, love the new background, way to shake things up! Also, took youadvice and stopped by Sugar and Ice at the Wynn, oh so delicious! And so beautiful! I will e-mail you more...the book, loved! I would be January, I was born in July, but January is so exciting to me! New start, out with old, in with new kind of thing. My wailing wall would be overflowing most days I am sad to say! I think the bible miracle I would want to see come true would be of loaves and fishes, wouldn't it be grand if no one had to go hungry! And I thought the Black Madonna symbolized for me that there are ways and places to find comfort, and of course they are different for everyone, but how neat that this statue brought comfort and healing for this funny group of women! Longest post ever, loved the book, I hope everyone else did as well! Now to see the movie!
Okay. The Queen Bee was August, and she was also my favorite character. The Black Madonna symbolizes the divine within me, my spirit, my eternal identity as a daughter of God and a mother. My wailing walls are prayer, the temple, the circle of my family, my ward family, the scriptures, writing, nature...so many places I go for comfort, really. Lily's future? Inheriting from August and keeping bees, maybe with Zach. Motherhood. My name month would be May, which is my birthday month and also a merry month. Themes are finding your own center, being strong within yourself, the value of belonging and connectedness, not expecting perfection in others, forgiveness and acceptance, being in control of your own destiny, the meaning of motherhood and mothering, the need to honor yourself and others, the importance of social justice and equality...that we all want and need the same things and have more in common than not. My Bible miracle would be the resurrection, and someday it WILL happen to me!
So where are the rest of the book club members?? Let's go, guys.

Hi All!
First of all, thank you Emily, for suggesting this book. I had read it a while ago but the refresher was very good.
Some of the things that I love about this book are:
1. The message that when you send out love, you get love back. (even from bees)
2. Learning to really see the beauty and the wonder in all of gods creations, even those that we are afraid of, like bees, or someone of a different race, or someone with a different belief system.
3. Learning to love that God made us all different and gave us all different gifts ON PURPOSE!
I have to say I felt like I understood Lily in a really personal way. I learned a lot about myself by looking through her eyes.

I am so glad you are doing this. What a clever idea.
On first thought I would have said August was the queen bee of the story, but on retrospection, I am leaning more towards May. Everyone seems to revolve around May, they protect her and watch over her, and she gives them an inner peace. Even after she is gone, she helps them make the decisions she needs to make. I really liked Rosaline as she pretended to have such a hard outer layer, but she really was such a tender woman. I also love her inner pride. I love that she didn't really roll with the punches, she stood up and punched back. The Black Madonna is the inner strength, the power of potential. We all go through times in our lives where we think we can't go any further, but if we really understood who we are, that in itself would give us the power to triumph over all our trials. I think wailing walls are important. There is so much junk that happens in life, that if we were to hold onto it, we would crumble under the pressure. I have many wailing walls, but the first that come to mind are my husband, prayer, journal, and temple. I see Lilly becoming a strong and powerful woman. I see her taking all she learned from August, and going out into the world to see who she could be. At the end of the book she was no longer a scared guilt ridden little girl, she had a whole world full of possibilities open to her. I think she would help Zach with his goals, and together they would be an unstoppable force. I would love to be named after the month of September. In fact, I want to give a daughter the middle name September. That is the most perfect month. The world is so bright and peaceful. The sky is always bluest in September, and there always seems to be a golden glow all around due to the fire tinged leaves. The main theme I saw in the book was letting go of the past, and coming to terms with who you are. Not who other people tell you you are, but who you actually are and can be. If I could have one miracle from the bible, I would like to be like John the Beloved and never taste death, but to go about preaching the gospel, until the time when the Savior will come to rule on earth.
