brennan: if i see a black widow i will put shoes on and turn it over. cade doesn't have shoes on. should he scream for you if he sees one?
cade: can black widows climb?
brennan: will we die if we get bit by a black widow?
me: kids can die from a black widow bite yes.
brennan: do grown ups? would a grown up die? or would they just pass out?
cade: what is passing out?
brennan: it's when you go to sleep for a bit and you don't move.
cade: oh, my mom does that every day.
me: no, that's called napping.
brennan: no, it's NOT napping. napping is SWEEEPING. passing out is when you sleep like you have no bones.
cade: emily, when did you say the black widows come in the house?
brennan: WHEN IT RAINS CADE!!! they come IN when it rains!
me: i said i found a little ORANGE spider that was dead. there are NO black widows in the house.

...
inseparable just doesn't
quite describe it.
from sun up to sun down.
now that's more of what it's like.
siblings.
it's more like siblings.
there's no other kid on the planet that feels more like family than cade.
sometimes i want to pinch myself because i love it so much.
because a friendship like that is once in a lifetime.
and for some people, it doesn't even happen that once.
i'm so glad brennan got to have his once too.
{ballet west nutcracker. at the sugar plum fairy party.
1989?? stacie was my cade:) luckiest girls ever!}

"hanna BE-nana"
"hanana BE-nana" helped max make peace with soccer.
and now she loves it.
who knew?
there's nothing better than a good friend who's there to hold your hand when you're nervous.
nothing:)

that time when we lost ross {valentine's day}
valentine's day.
when you invite over people you love,
and then you have your husbands
screw all of your deadly
armoires, bookshelves, and dressers
to the wall.
now that's love:)
dear linsey, todd, and sean,
remember that time we lost ross under sean's desk?
yeah, that was almost really sucky;)
and then we talked about how
cliche valentines things are not for us,
and how it's better to have husbands
nailing things into the wall
and eat heart shaped pizza,
and drink soda,
with friends and stuff like that instead?
that part was pretty great.
love,
em
...
other valentine's things that were fun:
{i had so many treats on my counter it felt like christmas! it was awesome.}

experts of girls {convo's with cade & brennan}
onto coolie, the 6 foot bear,
the following conversation occurred between two 5 year olds...
the following conversation occurred between two 5 year olds...
brennan: i went to girl world, and they taught me how to be experts of girls.
i know more about girls than you. really i do.
i know more about girls than you. really i do.
cade: no, i'm experts of girls.
brennan: all the girls of the whole world know me though. and they all love me too.
cade: ok ok they love you, but they love me too. they're in love with both of us.
but we won't ever let them come here because then they will try to kiss us.
but we won't ever let them come here because then they will try to kiss us.
brennan: we DON'T want them to kiss us. not even our sisters.
just our moms 'cause they're our moms and they can do stuff like kiss us.
just our moms 'cause they're our moms and they can do stuff like kiss us.

brennan in the wagon with a fever {halloween}
it was cold.
and it tried to rain.
but we would not be deterred!
max went as ariel.
her THIRD costume of the week.
and repeat costume of last year.
good grief. that child.
she asked to go home after the second house.
we pulled brennan in the wagon,
covered in a blanket,
hot with a fever.
we tried to convince him to stay home
and let max take his sack around for candy,
but he was just too devastated to let the best night of the year pass him by.
so his friends walked around the neighborhood with us,
and he laid in the wagon,
sick as a dog.
fever and a headache.
poor guy.
after about an hour and half the motrin finally kicked in,
and he got to do about 3 houses for himself.
this year chase figured out that if you go to someone's house,
knock and smile,
they will give you candy.
DREAM COME TRUE:)
after an hour and a half he showed no signs of wanting to stop.
after every house he would say,
"moor, moor, moor, moor"
until we got to the next house.
and then he would do it again.
even though we had to use our armpits
to warm up our freezing hands.
in fact,
he tried to escape down the street to double dip on the neighbors
with a pack of girls that had just collected some loot from our house.
good thing we caught him or he really would have painted the town red.
or orange.
whichever.
phew.
after we dragged him inside he found the candy bowl,
and stuffed his bucket full with that.
then brennan and max passed out all of our candy,
and all of chase's candy to every last trick or treater that came to our door.
until 9pm when we were bone dry out,
turned off the lights,
and sent the kids to bed.
then paige and i watched hocus pocus,
and went through all of our old high school pictures,
while sean slept on the couch.
i'm still finding red sequins all over my house.
best Dorothy shoes ever.
compliments of linsey.
this was definitely chase's year.
thank you linsey for your dorothy costume.
you the best mama;)

the day the waitress told us she looked good naked {the scarecrow walk}
-thursday october 17th, 2013-
the walk where i decided we needed to move to park city.
but by the end,
we were freezing our buns,
and i changed my mind.
i give you,
a
SCARECROW
photo gallery...
the skiing scarecrows
were my favorites.
only in park city:)
imagine a hillside full of yellow brushstrokes.
that was probably a week ago.
wah!
and then we took the kids for hot chocolates at mcdonald's,
where the waitress told us she was a gymnast in her youth,
who never had kids,
and still looked great with her clothes all off.
true story.
the ladies and chase all sat in our own booth,
and we put the kids in their own booth behind us.
with halloween oreos for everyone to pass around.
relaxing lunch with kids on a whole new level:)
so relaxing that max spilled her hot chocolate all over the table,
and i didn't even know it.
and brennan and blake wrestled on their side of the booth,
and no one but us could really see them,
although we pried them off of each other every 5 minutes or so,
just to be grown up like for a minute,
or when one of them punched each other in the crotch and someone started crying.
whichever.
i also learned that the southwest chicken salad my mom ordered
was better than the chicken bacon ranch salad i ordered.
but that i would have been better off just ordering a hot chocolate for lunch instead.
except brooke's was watered down.
i always forget how much i love park city.
