surprises and afros {happy father's day}

to the father of my children {a.k.a. Sean}:
remember that one time i surprised you for our 10 year anniversary,
and you had the same surprise date planned for me for the next night,
{but i made my mom lie to you, and she REALLY didn't want to,
so we could go out on our actual anniversary},
but neither of us knew that we both planned the same surprise date for each other
one day before and after each other?
that was so cute of us:)
i'm so glad i chose you.
i love with you.
happy father's day.
our children are the luckiest ever.
love,
emily
...
"Let the bough break, let it come down crashing
Let the sun face out to a dark sky
I can't say I'd even notice it was absent
Cause I could live by the light in your eyes

I'll unfold before you
What I've strung together
The very first words
Of a lifelong love letter

Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you

There was a time when I would have believed them
If they told me you could not come true
Just love's illusion
But then you found me and everything changed
And I believe in something again

My whole heart
Will be yours forever
This is a beautiful start
To a lifelong love letter

Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you

We are not perfect
We'll learn from our mistakes
And as long as it takes
I will prove my love to you

I am not scared of the elements
I am under-prepared, but I am willing
And even better
I get to be the other half of you

Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you
I choose you."

...
and to my daddy,
who taught me how to love a man
{a.k.a. papa, a.k.a. silver fox, a.k.a. P.}:
{my babies have my baby face and bulldog cheeks. they come by it honorably.
squish! i want to squish and kiss my very own baby cheeks. gimme!}
you had the coolest afro ever.
i love that you wore a suit the day i was born,
or was it the day you and mom
brought me home from the hospital?
i love your rosy cheeks,
our hot chocolate dates,
your texts about american idol,
and your political email forwards.
i think of you every time i hear our songs
"somewhere out there," "apple of my eye,"
and "baby beluga." raffi for life. holla back.
i remember listening to them in baby blue with the top down in the fog and the heater blaring, on the way home
from giant's games with you. who knew candlestick was the only stadium on the entire planet with garlic fries?
also, i'm still scared of your "sigh."
let's go SKI{ing} in a snow storm again soon.
i love you pops.
happy father's day:)

ode to the PAPA's

SEAN
i love how you come home from work and drop everything to play with the kids.
i love how you play ball battle in the big room so i can make dinner in the kitchen without any helpers.
i love how you take the kids on daddy day trips.
i love how you teach brennan to work hard.
i love how you treat max like a princess.
i love how you hold chase while you grill so he doesn't cry while we get dinner ready.
i love how you wake up with the kids every morning so i can sleep a little bit longer.
i love how you treat me like a queen.
you are my numero uno baby daddy.
i love your most adorable smile and contagious laugh.
but most of all, i love your sweet kisses and your deepest of all deep big brown eyes.
especially when they're looking into mine.
i love you.
................
{9.6lb chase in my belly, delievered 6 hours later}
{my dad is funnier than yours. ok, it's not a competition, but really, he is.}

DAD
i love your rosy cheeks.
and silver hair.
and that you water ski on one ski.
and do more tricks on the wake board than i can.
even though you're not supposed to.
{sandie, i swear he doesn't do anything really naughty.}
i love it when you come stay at our house for ski trips.
the bed in our guest room is called "grandpa's bed." it's been dedicated. for realz.
you make the tastiest bacon brussel sprouts on the face of the planet.
and going out to eat a steak dinner is a let down after having your grilling delicacies on the weber.
you are the cutest grandpa.
i'm so lucky that you are my dad.
i love you.
......
great men are hard to come by,
and i feel honored to have come by these guys.
{man breakfast father's day menu: bacon, salsa eggs, homemade hash browns, strawberries,
apple juice, and freshly picked roses the my bushes out my back kitchen door.}
is this what your father's day morning looked like?
yeah, us too:)
HAPPY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
to you and your dads:)

war wounds

dear dad,
you know how i like to stand on the treadmill by mom's desk? how i like to put my finger right up to the printer, but not touch it (b/c i know i'm not supposed to)? well, mom was putting away the strainer, you know, since you were so great to wash all of the dishes last night (mom loved it lots). so she was putting away the strainer saying, "ta-ta brennan, please don't touch the printer." and then, the BOOM heard round the block. it was my head banging straight into the edge of the desk AND the wall. my body was all twisted, and my arm was stuck behind the desk. i cried really hard. the coolest part was the instant, and i mean INSTANT, goose egg on my forehead. mom is really glad i didn't crack my noggin' open. she said it looked like it came pretty close. no blood, just a line indented into my head. so i'm all set with motrin and peanut butter and jelly. the doc says about a week for this shiner to go down. does this mean we're not taking family pictures with jackie anymore? see you soon, dad.
love,
the pork loin

2 babies are harder than 1.

we were NOT supposed to cross this bridge.
but i'm glad we did!
i'm not sure if the silver fox agrees,
i'm thankful, nonetheless.
the pork loin and i are in CHICO.
one of my happiest places on earth.
it would only be happier if s.d.gib were here,
but alas, finals call.
so back to crossing this bridge.
it's the bay bridge.
we accidentally missed our turn off to chico,
ending up on treasure island.
the toll lady wouldn't let dad flip a U.
he was not happy.
we'll just leave it at that.
how did the rest of the road trip go????
a lot like this:
dear dad,
can mommy buy one of those dvd things for the car?
love, your tender loin.
i know, i couldn't get my picture to rotate.
i am blogging from a fancy dancy iBook this week.
i know, you're already thinking i'm "cooler."
however, i have come to realize that i am
COMPLETELY
and
UTTERLY
MAC illiterate.
the pork loin has been living off of ritz bitz.
see picture below.
we've been busy,
that's my only excuse.
it's a good one too.
it has been a great kind of busy.
a knock your socks off,
loving being around your best friend kind of busy.
sorry sean, we couldn't completely steer clear of the mall...
but i never went to buckle,
that should count for something;-)
don't you worry,
i've managed to get in some fruit snacks too.
that counts as one serving of fruit right???
okay, don't call CPS, we have had bananas.
and veggies, and tofu, and big fat noodles.
you chico-nians know that all of those things come from...
HULAS!!!!
well, not the bananas part.
those came from stacy and ryan's kitchen.
we washed it down with a big heaping bowl of jon n bons frozen yogurt.
...
thoughts i've had...
teenagers kissing on the front porch are disgusting.
i hope they aren't out there on our walk tomorrow.
is pot legal in california?
there are many things that make me question it's not,
which leads me to believe it is...
two babies is harder than one.
TJ MAX is my new favorite store.
will i only think dieting is lame when i'm skinny?
or will i always think moderation is key?
i hope for the latter.
newborns are intoxicating.
1 yr olds are hysterical.
and DANG cute.
i am an idiot on MAC's.
but i feel so hip using one;-)
husbands are irreplaceable.
nap time is essential.
time stops on vacation.
i still don't like the wind.
65 degrees in utah is NOT 65 degrees in california.
why must i learn this lesson over and over again?
it's the optimist in me:-)
...
upcoming events:
HULAS
JON N BONS
...
1st's in CHICO:
love
college
apartment
testimony
sorority (go alpha gams!)
but not in that order...

no apologies, just messes.

oh, and dad,
i said "yogurt" this morning at breakfast.
i pointed to it too.
mom screamed and jumped up and down.
i guess it was more of a squeal than a scream.
she looked so silly.
geese, i love that lady.
can you tickle me when you get home?
love,
the pork loin

want to sit by me?

dear dad,
i can
comb
my own hair now.
just thought you should know.
love,
the pork loin
p.s.
mom says she's making pesto, chicken, whole wheat pizza tonight.
want to sit by me?
oh, and goddesses,
mom's added two new songs to her
"Kiss" by Prince (fitting, don't you think?)
"Red Top" by King Pleasure
