happy harvest {from the patch to the porch}

we grew these.
i am proud:)
there are three more still on the vine.
...
tonight i was making pizza and bread sticks.
and decided that anything will taste good if you slather it in butter and garlic salt.
you can't go wrong.
my sunflowers turned yellow at the top this week.
and the birds are all fat from eating the seeds.
so i persuaded sean to cut down the beanstalks.
and that turned into our trip to the pumpkin patch.
which was a LONG walk to the back fence;)
pumpkins and sunflowers are my favorite things to grow.
absolutely no maintenance.
and beautiful harvests in the fall.
and let me tell you.
these pumpkins are perfect.
could not have picked more beautiful pumpkins at a regular patch.
but at the gibson patch,
we grow big, orange, juicy, fat pumpkins.
and i love them.

 happy havest!

SNOW.

at some point this morning the rain turned to snow.
i am in heaven:)
big huge white flakes.
that melt when they hit the ground.
max's lips are purple.
and we are all in long sleeve shirts, pants, and socks.
we've been in our house a year on saturday.
which would explain why our heater AND microwave have broken.
TODAY.
two days BEFORE our home warranty will expire:)
can't decide if i'm happy or sad about it.
b/c normally murphy would have it happen the day AFTER the warranty expires.
but i do know for sure.
i'm happy about the snow:)
AND
i'm feeling better.
like did two loads of laundry and put it away on the same day,
haven't had to go to taco bell or chick-a-filet yet today feeling better.
call the newspapers.
this may never happen again.

living on the edge

yesterday at 10:45am none of us were dressed.
or had brushed our teeth yet.
and all of us were in the car headed to chick-fil-a.
i just couldn't think of anything else i would rather eat at 10:45 am than their chicken nuggets.
a few years ago i saw a show on oprah with dr. oz that said the most dangerous thing a woman living in the united states can do is to get pregnant and have a baby.
i'm living on the edge people.
living on the edge!
i think it's bc there is nothing a pregnant body wants except drive thru garbage.
my arteries have reached an entirely new level of gross.
i assume.
i would like to publicly tell my body that whenever it would like to stop throwing up i would fully support that endeavour.
especially the 11:45pm routine.
i had to give in and take Tylenol yesterday twice.
it was a rough day.
that is all.
thank goodness they are worth all the trouble:)

an extra head for the mister.

it makes my nose itch.
i drool a lot more while i'm brushing.
and it hightens my gage reflex in the back.
but i feel like i've been to the dentist two times a day,
everyday.
and hopefully my aggressive brushing will be a thing of the past.
my poor upper left gums.
ouch.
recommended by my dentist.
and me.
$30 @ target.
with an extra head for the mister.
brennan has a spiderman one.
max hello kitty.
but theirs was $5.
teeth brushing has never been so exciting in the gibson home.
really,
it's VERY exciting.
...
we're spending the day doing secret birthday stuff for sean.
can't wait for tomorrow for all of the big "unveilings."
i love birthdays:)

it must be

 it must be conference sunday:)

2 buckets of apples=applesauce

while the men went to priesthood meeting last night,
we brought our potato masher and spaghetti pot to my cousin's house.
two buckets of homegrown apples called for applesauce making.
and that is what we did.
the kids watched movies in the basement with their cousins,
and we talked in the kitchen about life.
if you have never done it,
it's easy.
peel.
core.
put about 1 cup of water on the bottom of your pot.
heat on your stove until it looks like applesauce.
stir frequently at the end.
add sugar or candies (we like red hots).
and can it.
ta-da!
the secret to making extra yummy apple sauce is to use a variety of sweet apples.
we only used one b/c obviously we had TONS to use.
julie's trees abundantly produce:)
her-ray:)

 here's to new traditions:)

lately, this is how it's been going...

lately, this is how it's been going...
when someone is completely out of pajamas or underwear
OR if someone poops {pee can dry and be left in the laundry room longer--this is my theory},
i decide it's time to do laundry.
at which point it will take the entire first half of the morning/day to motivate myself to carry the chosen white or dark load down the stairs and place it in the washing machine.
it may or may not take several hours for the load to be started depending on what my two small children decide to do in the time it takes me to walk to the laundry detergent.
sometimes we get lucky.
today we did not.
today brennan pooped in his underwear during that time and laundry was put off to deal with that lovely issue.
two hours later when i remembered to start the laundry machine it finally got going.
the afternoon and evening are spent trying to motivate myself to put the now wet laundry into the dryer.
i usually think about it four or five times from 2pm-10pm before i do anything about it.
the wet laundry in the washing machine.
this process is drawn out longer if it is the dark load because i hang dry most of the darks.
and i am embarrassed to say i even dry most of my kid's clothing.
it lasts longer and looks better.
that is why.
and i've done it for my clothes since i was 14.
then finally around 10pm i consider leaving the wet clothes in the washing machine over night and running it again the next day.
then i imagine the same process and being in the same place at 10pm tomorrow night with no pajamas and no underwear and get to moving the clothes into the dryer.
and sometime after we are all asleep i am sure it finishes drying b/c i wake up the next morning to a dryer full of...
wait for it...
DRY CLOTHES:)
heaven bless the washer and dryer.
said dry clothes will remain left in the dryer for several days until someone is completely out of pajamas or underwear
OR until someone poops.
and the process will begin all over again.
this is starting to remind of the "if you give a mouse a cookie" books...
no?
i also got my flu shot today.
my arm still hurts.
but i'm so proud.
i wanted a sticker.
they did not have stickers.

sodium cardboard box

unless it is extremely processed i cannot eat it.
this is not me.
except it is.
for right now.
in fact,
if it is healthy i will surely throw it up.
as was evidenced again this morning for the i've lost count number of times.
after a week of cheesy gordita crunches at taco bell for lunch {5 days in a row},
i have now moved onto rice a roni pasta in a box.
thank you bree.
i may have to eat it for breakfast.
also, costco hot dogs with extra onions and a sprite were magically healing at 10:30 this morning.
heaven help me.
i may turn into a walking sodium cardboard box.
a really yummy and satisfying one:)
i think i need some french fries.
and a coke.
maybe with some cheese.
on the fries.
not the coke.
with extra salt.
