THE DOC is IN!!!!

note: you will never see this much red on my blog ever again.
baaaaahhh!!!!
COMMENCEMENT:
day 1
where's daddy???

i loved the snowy mountains in the background of this picture above.
...
HOODING CEREMONY:
THE BIG KAHUNA!!!
day 2
dr. scout master giving a speech.
brennan kept saying "daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy" the entire speech.
then he screamed b/c we wouldn't let him go sit with dad.
aunt ashlie carried him away kicking and screaming.
it was awesome.
muchas gracias a-town.
"the hooding"
where he was officially given the title doc.
so cool.
i think this means we might be grown ups...
nah, no house yet.
we brought the pork loin back for the last part.
tamed him with a bag of m&m's i grabbed as we ran out the door.
one point for team mom.
go me.
"the oath"
the "sean-tur-age"
(pronounced like mirage)
his female study mates.
yes, he only studied with the girls.
his pt besties.
i love them all!!!
they loved the goodies i sent with sean to school;-)
the entire gang that showed up to support us:
left to right:
(brother landon, wife sarah, MAMA C, grandpa dick, grandma joi, sandie, dad/silverfox, me, max, B, dr. scout master, sean's mom val, bro in law shawn, sister nat, sister a-town, husband kenny, gpa casper, name dropper, gma capsper)
10 points if you actually put names to faces in that picture.
go you.
i think the kids were tired.
plus it was 500 degrees in there.
brennan's red sweater was torn off 2 seconds into the ceremony.
above: dr. scott ward (pt big wig) and dr. scout master
and it's been a nonstop party ever since.
as it should be;-)
i need a nap.

the replacement.

i've been to every store within a 30 min radius of my house.
sounds unimpressive, but with a toddler in a coat that naps in the middle of the day it's a small miracle.
i've googled, i've "amazoned."
above is what i was able to gather the week before christmas.
donna, the assistant manager at target, told me i was lucky to find it.
apparently, nativity sets were a "hot item this year."
her words, not mine.
she informed me there are none at target in the entire state of utah.
she checked on her hand held device and showed me.
at least i didn't go to two targets before i found that piece of ditty out.
this one was not from target.
it's hand painted.
ceramic.
and looks absolutely NOTHING like the one brennan
crashed to smithereens.
there's was white.
it was 20 pieces.
with large camels.
there are no camels in this one.
and baby jesus looks a little questionable.
sigh.
this is not what i wanted.
i hope to deliver it tomorrow.
i've been working on "sorry" with the pork loin.
hopefully it will give the entire episode a little extra touch to win them over.
i used some of my birthday money to buy it.
i'm thinking i should have pulled the funds from brennan's college account.
that's what i really wanted to do.
there was no money left in the budget this week, and the funds had to come from somewhere.
then i thought it was more my fault than his, seeing as i am "the adult" now.
whatever that means.
...
the scout master takes his FINAL final tomorrow.
i was signed up to bring cookies to the FINAL final party.
"THE" cookies.
so i'm baking tonight.
it's a tasty job.
that requires lot of hand washing with the amount of tasting i do.
what can i say, i love the dough.
i don't eat the cookies.
just the dough.
with a large glass of milk that i refill at least once.
i've heard it does a body good.
...
my visiting teacher made the news today.
she delivered her baby at home around 1:30am this morning.
she did not plan on a home birth.
her water broke, she hurried to get dressed, and then she realized the baby was coming right then.
9lbs. 3 oz.
one more oz. and she would have had a brennan!
what a champ!
the really crazy part?
this makes 3 for 3 of her children born on dec. 15th.
click here for a 1 min. video clip of the story.
...
why do "they" clap at the stock exchange when all of the stocks are down???
someone, please explain.
the end.

scout master's wife

we've been getting ready for our primary singing program at church for months.
they children are singing a version of "follow the prophet" that they helped make up the words to.
there's one line that says, "he's a loyal scout."
being the scout master's wife, i thought it would be "oh so cute" to have them hold up 2 fingers, like the scouts do at their meetings when they say their "stuff."
except it's supposed to be 3 fingers.
3.
so all of the primary children have practiced with 2 fingers.
won't that be so cute?!
sigh.
now i want to know what the other 15 adults were thinking when i was teaching this 2 finger thing?
someone had to know i was doing it wrong.
so embarrassing...
sigh.
guess i'll try to teach them 3 fingers before the big show this sunday.
the scout master had a grand old laugh over this entire thing...

free...or something

sometime late last night sean came in to tell me he was going to pick brennan up at 5 so i could have a few hours by myself.
i tried to think of every excuse why this was a bad idea.
wait? why am i trying to think of an excuse?
i don't know.
on my way to a friend's house i called sean.
"i forgot to remind you i'll be at stacie's, so we won't be home for you to get brennan. go ahead to your school thing and we'll see you later."
"oh, i'll just come to stacie's."
dang, he's got an answer for everything.
why was i trying to make an excuse again?
still don't know.
why is he offering?
b/c he's great, that's why.
so he picked up brennan.
ann marie and i went out to dinner.
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, bajio!
do you know the jingle?
one pineapple shrimp and a mixed diet coke/dr pepper later i'm here at home.
with nothing to do.
no baby to feed, bathe, read books, get into jammies, or clean up after.
and i'm wondering...
what in the heck did i do with myself before i had a kid????
dinner was extremely relaxing.
no child to feed, hush, or creatively console in public.
i just got to chat.
oh, how i love a good chat.
but now i'm home.
alone.
no child, no husband.
and it's weird.
not bad, just weird.
i finished my book last night.
in my hands.
just added it to my top 5 best reads ever.
amazing woman.
holocaust rescuer.
can't describe how in awe i am of her courage.
can't imagine having to live in a world where i have my daily freedoms and choices taken away.
where fear ruled my life.
random find at the end of another book i read earlier this year.
still can't believe i almost didn't read it.
i need a new book now.
suggestions please.
there surely must be a new book on my stack next to my bed.
i fear i may be at the end of my stack.
how did this happen???
referring to the end of the stack of books and the ability of knowing what to do with myself when my child is not present.
have you had this happen?
you surely must have had this happen.
i surely am thankful for the scout master.
it felt really good to have a minute, even if i didn't know what to do with it the entire time.

sprained scout master

the end of this story goes like this...
how did this happen?
a birthday.
fun was had by all.
even the sprained scout master.
i give you,
a birthday galla!
just replace with bubbles.
the scene of the crime.
i watched the gimped scout master hobble out the door this morning.
off to class where all of his classmates can diagnose and treat his ankle.
i think i saw some excitement in his eyes;-)
