back in the saddle again

back at
and
again.
additional paranoia today:
used draino in the tub yesterday to unclog this.
three hot showers have been taken since then, and the smell is completely gone, but my urge to never let him bathe in the tub ever again is still there. what if there were traces left of the draino? i attempted to keep all of the bath water out of said baby's mouth. failed. he took three plunges into the bath water, three big gulps, and one face plant. good job mom. way to keep the water out of the baby's mouth.
i need someone to talk some sense into me! help me feel better about this morning's bath 'cause ya' know i'll be checking on him twenty times during his morning nap. help me fight the urge!

I bought a BIG sponge at babies R Us for $2.99. I used it in the big bath for Madison to lay on when she was an infant. I never had to use a baby bath. This sponge has been the best EVER because now she sits on it instead of lays on it and she doesn't slip and slide on the tub surface. I still watch her of course because she reaches for her toys, but I have LOVED it and I know that we'd have a whole lot more face plants with out it.

Hmm...I like Keri's idea above. I agree - I always had that fear...chemicals in the tub? water in the tub? baby drinking chemical water in the tub? I think it's just our motheryish ways. But...I'm thinking all is good.

Never fear, Emily. Three showers is a lot of water under the bridge (or down the drain, as the case may be), and even if no showers at all had been taken, dilution would be a big factor here.

Babies are way more durable than new moms think! And yours looks especially hardy...

He'll be fine. Honest.

You are a wonderful mother. It's all good. Gulp away baby boy, gulp away.

Ok, you inspired me to dump my drano and look for an alternative! I like going natural whenever possible, so I looked it up and turns out there are a few options. Seventh Generation and Mrs. Meyers both seem to make drain cleaning products - all natural and safe. I mean I would not drink them, but WAY better than drano. I also read that you can pour half a box of baking soda down the drain, followed by white vinegar. It gets all foamy, but let it sit for 30 minutes (maybe repeat this if it is a bad clog) and you are good to go! Let's try it and see what happens.
